Myrtles Plantation
Location & Map
The Haunting
Built in 1796, Myrtles Plantation has a dark history intertwined with slavery, murder, and tragedy. The most famous ghost is Chloe, a slave who allegedly poisoned the family's children and was hanged for her crime. Guests report seeing her figure on the veranda and in photographs. The plantation's mirror is said to contain the spirits of Sara Woodruff and her children, who died from oleander poisoning. Visitors also encounter the ghost of William Winter, a plantation owner who was shot on the front steps and died trying to climb the stairs to his bedroom.
