Edinburgh Castle

Location & Map

The Haunting

Edinburgh Castle sits atop Castle Rock, a volcanic outcrop that has been fortified since the 12th century. The most famous ghost is the Grey Lady, believed to be Lady Janet Douglas who was burned at the stake for witchcraft in 1537.

Visitors report seeing her wandering the halls, often accompanied by the sound of heavy chains. The dungeons echo with the cries of French prisoners from the Seven Years' War, and a phantom piper is said to play his bagpipes in the tunnels beneath the castle.
